One Week, One Full-Earth, One Meter Resolution

Current state of e-CORCE program development, new properties and business novelties were presented by Jean-Pierre Antikidis (Blue Planet, France) at the 5th International Conference “Earth from Space – the Most Effective Solutions”. In his presentation at the plenary session “Images of the Earth from Space and Geospatial Data for Web” on November 29 Jean-Pierre Antikidis reviewed the possibility of weekly refreshment of the entire Earth’s surface with highly detailed satellite imagery.

The possibility to bring the full of our planet to the reach of more than 2 billion internauts in a week time or less is an extraordinary step forward . Now a new question is to be raised: What could be the most appropriate space technology to supply these new needs in the most attractive and financially rewarding fashion? The paradigms have led to consider a specifically designed concept of low cost satellite imagery called e-CORCE,” – sais J.-P. Antikidis.

e-CORCE:
e-, because dedicated to mass-use on the Internet;
COnstellation, because technology relies on an Earth observation satellites fleet;
Recurrent, because images are refreshed on a continuous basis (typically weekly) ;
CEllular, because data flows through a three layers distributed system: spatial, telecom and ground.
