Master-class of the Italian Cosmo-SkyMed satellites Operator in Russia |

Italian e-GEOS company — the Operator of Cosmo-SkyMed series satellites — is to present it master-class on December 2 within the frames of 4th International Conference “Earth from Space – the Most Effective Solutions” (December 1-3, Moscow Region Vatutinki Recreation Center of RF President Administration).
COSMO-SkyMed satellite have been developed and manufactured according to the ASI and Italian Defence Ministry Earth observation programme. . The COSMO-SkyMed constellation currently consists of three operational satellites, with plans to launch a fourth satellite in 2010. The system is controlled from Telespazio’s Fucino Space Centre, while civil-sector data is gathered and processed by e-GEOS at the Matera Space Centre. COSMO-SkyMed satellite system is capable of acquiring multiple images of a specific area on the same day, anywhere in the world and in any weather conditions. Thanks to its unique characteristics COSMO-SkyMed opens up a new era of operational applications in many market segments.
During the conference e-GEOS company representatives will provide information about COSMO-SkyMed satellites images applications related to environmental monitoring, such as emergency response, maritime surveillance, oil spill detection, and oil and gas platform monitoring, which are part of e-GEOS services in GMES, the European Global Monitoring programme for Environment and Security.
Marcello Maranesi, e-GEOS CEO, will present the company and COSMO-SkyMed applications on the first day of the conference at the plenary session “Programs of Earth observation from space”. Besides, on December 2 during the plenary session on “Remote Sensing to Reduce Risks of Natural Calamities and to Estimate Impacts of Natural and Technological Disasters”, a presentation on “Geospatial Information Services Supporting Land and Infrastructure Protection” will be delivered.
Conference participants will be able to visit e-GEOS poster booth within the frames of the Exhibition of technology and services in sphere of remote sensing that is to take place on December 1-3 in the Conference Hall vestibule of the “Vatutinki” recreation center.
